Family Fun in and around State College for the week of 6/19-6/25

Tuesday, June 21

Make it, Take it Event
Michael's, 44 Collannade Blvd, State College

Children ages 3 and up can join Michael's staff in learning about the culture of Sweden while making a Swedish flag hat pin, a woven Swedish Heart and paper dolls featuring traditional Swedish dress.  Cost free. 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Wednesday, June 22

A World of Laughter with David Perry
Schlow Library, 211 S. Allen St., State College

David Perry is an artist/musician/comedian who uses his guitar, pictures, puppets and props to entertain children of all ages.  Cost Free. 2:30 PM in the Children's Dept.

Read it, Watch it Summer Movie Series at the State Theatre
130 West College Ave., State College

Visit Schlow Library and read "Matilda" (not required for admission) then come to the State Theatre at noon to watch "Matilda" on the Big Screen.  Cost Free. 12:00 PM

State College Spikes vs Auburn Doubledays
Medlar Field at Lebrano Park, Porter Rd, State College

Enjoy Half-Price Wednesday with the Spikes.  $3 Bleacher Seats and Half-Price medium sodas all night long while you cheer the Spikes to victory! 7:00 PM

Family Fun Night
Welch Pool, 670 Westerly Parkway, State College

Tailgate party! All Ages welcome. Cost "After 5 pm" admission rates apply. 5 - 8 pm.



Thursday, June 23

Make it, Take it Event

Children ages 3 and up can join Michael's staff in learning about the culture of Germany while making a Cowbell hat pin, clothespin Nutcrackers and Loden Hat.  Cost free. 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
 
Around the World in Five Folktales with Adam Schwartz
Schlow Library, 211 S. Allen St., State College

Discover how the differences and similarities in stories from different cultures can be unique and unifying.  Adam Schwartz uses puppets and lots of help from the audience to tell different versions of the same folktale from around the world.  Cost Free. All ages welcome. 2:30 pm in the children's dept.

Lemont Concert Series
The Village Green, Dale Street and Mount Nittany Road, Lemont


Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy a free concert by the Allegheny Ridgerunners.  7:30 PM

Music Night at the Marsh
Millbrook Marsh Nature Center,  548 Puddintown Rd, State College

Enjoy the Tussey Mountain Moonshiners perform at the Millbrook Marsh Nature Center. Cost $5. 6:30 PM

Saturday, June 25

Stories and Jazz!
Schlow Library, 211 S. Allen St., State College  

Enjoy a dynamic reading of 4 favorites, including Where the Wild Things Are and Go, Dog, Go! accompanied by Jazz artists improvising to the stories! Cost free. All Ages Welcome. 10:30 AM Children's Dept.

Summer's Best Music Fest
Downtown, State College


A tribute to music and arts in downtown State College! Enjoy more than 25 performances on 3 different stages as well as additional events such as a BMX demonstration, pet parade and street bazaar.  Cost free. Beginning at 9:00 am and continuing throughout the day. 

Kids in the Kitchen
Wegman's, 345 Collonnade Blvd, State College


A one hour hands on class for kids and parents ages 4 and up.  Parents and children will work together to make Cheddar Beef Sliders and Root Beer Floats while learning the history and science behind them.  Cost $10 per child & parent or $5 with Shoppers Club card.  Sign up in advance at the Service Desk.

Touch a Truck Expo
State College Area High School North Building, Parking Lot, 653 Westerly Parkway, State College

Bring the kids out for an exciting afternoon of Big Trucks, Fire Trucks, Dump Trucks and more! It’s a hands-on experience for the entire family! Cost Free. 1-4 pm.

Family Bird Walk
Bald Eagle State Park, 149 Main Park Rd, Howard

Learn the basics of bird watching then go on an approximately one mile walk to test your skills. Meet at Pavillion #6. Cost free. 8:30 - 10:00 am
