Throughout history paper flowers served as decorative features to create a festive atmosphere to gatherings and to bring life to homes and parties when real flowers were not available. Discover the many traditions in which paper flowers were used and create your own personal flower to take home.   Cost free, no registration required.

Read it, Watch it Summer Movie Series: Rock-a-Doodle

Celebrate One World, Many Stories with Schlow and the State Theatre. Pick up a themed bookmark (not required for admission) in the Children’s Department, read inspiring books, and then visit the historic State Theatre to watch great movies.  Cost free, donations of non-perishable food items collected ta the door to benefit various local charities.

Storigami!  With Christine Kallevig

Christine Kallevig is an author and performance artist who tells story through the art of folded paper. Each fold illustrates an action or character, so by the time the story is over, a surprise origami figure is magically created. Fold along, and you'll become origami illustrators, too! Cost free, for all ages but children age four and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Storytelling with Jan Kinney

Jan Kinney is a professional Folk Artist and Storyteller. She practices her craft all over the world but calls Central, PA home.  She will delight listeners of all ages as she spins yarns of brave kids, talking animals and strange happenings.  Cost free, no registration required.

Steve Abrams presents Once Upon a Storytime

Join master puppeteer, Steve Abrams as he tells the tales of Aesop’s fables, Punch and Judy and the Rama and Sita story from India.  Steve involves his audience in the performance and children will be thrilled to meet the strange blue creature who lives in Steve’s suitcase.  Cost free, all ages welcome, no registration required.

Bike Decorating Party for the CRPR Kids on Wheels Parade

Join CRPR staff to decorate your bike for the Kids on Wheels Parade. Streamers and tape supplied. Anything else is up to you! Cost free, all ages welcome.

Lemont Concert Series

Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy a free concert by Stylus featuring Jackie Brown. Cost free, all ages welcome.

Saturday, July 2

CRPR “Kids on Wheels” Parade

Kick-off at the corner of Foster Ave. and Locust Lane, State College

Show your patriotism and be part of the annual “CRPR Kids-on-Wheels” Parade. Bring your bike, wagon, scooter, stroller or skateboard. The parade will end at Friedman Parklet where we will celebrate our nation’s birthday by singing “Happy Birthday to US” and eating watermelon. Cost free, all ages welcome.

Join Michael's staff in learning about the Native culture of the United States. Celebrate the United States as you craft your own warrior shield and bead flag. While supplies last.  Cost free, ages 3 and up. 

Environmental Learning Center Open House

Bald Eagle State Park, 149 Main Park Rd, Howard

Stop in at the Environmental Learning Center to look around at various mounts and educational displays. A park volunteer will be on hand to talk or share general information about Bald Eagle State Park.

Bluebird Bonanza and Building
7:00 PM
Bald Eagle State Park, 149 Main Park Rd, Howard

Get a close up view of a bluebird’s life by looking at real bluebirds and nests. Stop in for a brief introduction to bluebirds, take short hike to examine an active bluebird nest, then help paint and build bluebird boxes for next year! Meet at the Russell P. Letterman Campground Amphitheatre.
