Bog Treasures

Take a stroll on the boardwalk to see the unique plants and animals found at the bog. Meet at Boat Launch #3 on West Side Road.

Lake Dwellers

Black Moshannon State Park, 4216 Beaver Rd., Phillipsburg

Discover the animals that live in Black Moshannon Lake. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. No sandals, flip flops, or bare feet will be allowed. Meet at the Environmental Learning Center.

South Hills Music Picnic Series

Lazy summer evening…nothing to do? Pack a picnic dinner and head to South Hills for an evening of great music! Enjoy Barbershop songs by the Nittany Knights with special guest the band "Anything Goes". Expect the opportunity to sing along as well! Cost free, all ages welcome.

Super Splash Day at the Park! Fans of all ages will have a blast as the ballpark is transformed into a water park! Enjoy fire hoses over the kids "splash zone", a dunk tank, and various other ways to get SOAKED! And don't forget - Dollar Dog Mondays! Celebrate One World, Many Stories with Schlow and the State Theatre. Pick up a themed bookmark (not required for admission) in the Children’s Department, read inspiring books, and then visit the historic State Theatre to watch great movies.  Cost free, donations of non-perishable food items collected at the door to benefit various local charities.

Downtown State College Summer Concert Series

Summer Bike-In Movie Series – Swiss Family Robinson (Rain date 8/6)
8:45 PM
Sunset Park, State College

Bike or walk to one of these local parks to catch a FREE outdoor movie shown on an inflatable screen. This environmentally-friendly event is a wonderful way to spend a summer evening and is easily accessible from a bike path. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic and enjoy this summer event presented by Centre Region Parks & Recreation, the Centre Region Bike Coalition, Freeze Thaw Cycles and Envinity. The events are free, but donations to CRPR & CRBC are accepted. (P.S. Please make this a safe experience and don’t forget your bike light!).

Movies on the Mountain: Tangled

Enjoy your favorite movies on the wide screen! Admission begins at 8pm, is just $1 and classic movie popcorn and candy will be available- as well as hot dogs, hamburgers, and other good food you won't find at regular showings! Soda, Beer, and other beverages, too. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and watch a fun flick outside... a great American tradition! PLUS from 6-9pm the Go-Kart track is running Half-Off specials on races nights before a movie!

Workshop for Children: Shadow Box Portraits

Palmer Museum of Art, University Park

Create a shadow box self-portrait that expresses your individuality! Participants will view and discuss works of art in Femfolio and explore how the women artists in the exhibition express multiple facets of their identity. Participants will then work with art educator Laura March to create a shadow box showcasing their own unique attributes using paper, mirrored tiles, baubles, and other fun materials! Recommended for ages 5–8.  A parent or adult learning partner is encouraged to accompany young attendees; participants should wear appropriate clothing for working with materials. Workshops are free, but participants must preregister by calling 814-865-7673 or e-mailing palmermuseum@psu.edu.
