Old Home Days
9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Greenwood Furnace State Park, 15795 Greenwood Rd., Huntington

Discover the heritage of this former iron furnace community through Living History presentations, demonstrations, and musical programs while marking the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. You can even participate in many activities, including our Old Home Day tradition, the cake walk! Best of all, the entire event is free. It’s a great way to get your family outdoors, learn some history, and have some fun!

Shark Week Events
Noon – 5:00 PM
Discovery Space of Central PA, 112 West Foster Ave., State College

Dig up and identify fossilized shark teeth and learn about these magnificent creatures. Each child gets to take home 1 shark’s tooth free with paid admission.
 Great Blue Herons
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Black Moshannon State Park, 4216 Beaver Rd., Phillipsburg

Enjoy a pontoon boat ride about the Great Blue Heron. This is a first come first serve program due to the limited seats. PFD's will be provided. Age limit-4 years and older. Meet at Boat Launch #1. Cost: $2 per person.

Dragons and Damsels
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Black Moshannon State Park, 4216 Beaver Rd., Phillipsburg

Take a ride on the pontoon to see dragonflies and damselflies. This is a first come first serve program due to the limited seats. PFD's will be provided. Age limit-4 years and older. Meet at Boat Launch #1. Cost: $2 per person.

South Hills Music Picnic Series

Lazy summer evening…nothing to do? Pack a picnic dinner and head to South Hills for an evening of great music! You'll be amazed at how Tommy Wareham & the Intrigues can get a crowd's toes tapping to the beat. Cost free, all ages welcome.

Monday, August 8

Walker Brothers Circus

The Walker Brothers Circus promises excitement, thrills, comedy, and animal antics, all under the direction of master of ceremonies, 5th generation circus performer Jason Walker.  Enjoy the famous Fomiasari family with their comedy Matadors, a hilarious circus clown, and the astonishing balancing agility of Miss Carmen on her low wire.  Also featuring Roman riding excellence, aerialists, teen juggling sensation Paolo, and more. Tons of affordable family fun!

Tickets are $14 for adults, $5 for kids, but you can get a coupon for free children's tickets at the Walker Bros. website, HERE.

Celebrate One World, Many Stories with Schlow and the State Theatre. Pick up a themed bookmark (not required for admission) in the Children’s Department, read inspiring books, and then visit the historic State Theatre to watch great movies.  Cost free, donations of non-perishable food items collected at the door to benefit various local charities.

Potato Dig & Tomato Harvest

Ever wonder how potatoes grow?  Bring your shovel and boots to Greenmoore Gardens, and come see!  They will be picking (and tasting!!) the amazing varieties of tomatoes and herbs at Greenmoore Gardens for their pizza sauce for our Dog Days of Summer Pizza Party/Movie Night (to be held August 24)!

Reptile and Amphibian Day

Duck Tape® Folder Event

You can Paddle Day
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Whipple Dam State Park, PA 26, Huntington

Get Outdoors PA and learn to paddle a kayak or canoe. Joel Yoder and staff from Rothrock Outfitters in Huntingdon will bring several boat models to try out. The program will start with instruction and practice, then head onto Whipple Lake to see just how easy it is to paddle. Enjoy the gorgeous scenery while learning how to paddle like a pro. Boats and instruction are provided free of charge during this two hour program. NOTE: Meet at the boat docks. Following instruction, you will get 1/2 hour of free use of a canoe or kayak. Afterwards, additional time out is under normal rental rates. There will still be a rental fee for the paddleboats.

Live Birds of Prey
8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Bald Eagle State Park, 149 Main Park Rd., Howard

See hawks and owls up close! Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center will bring a few live birds to Bald Eagle State Park and discuss their interesting lives and adaptations. This is a great chance to see some of our local avian life at a close but safe distance. Meet at the Russell P. Letterman Campground Amphitheater.
