Sunday Morning Stroll

Don’t miss out on one of the most exhilarating times of the day in nature-the morning! Join the park naturalist in meandering around the local trails to explore what the morning brings. Natural history topics from insects to plants may be discussed. (Participants will be walking at least a mile on uneven surfaces).
Meet at the Nature Inn.

South Hills Music Picnic Series

Lazy summer evening…nothing to do? Pack a picnic dinner and head to South Hills for an evening of great music! The Deacons of Dixieland will liven up your evening with their unique style of fun, happy feel good music.  Come prepared to join in with the band!  Cost free, all ages welcome.

Spend part of your holiday listing to some excellent stories about animals. Discover where animals live, what they do to survive and even get to touch some of their fur.  Cost free, meet at the beach area near the playground.

Build your Watershed!

Enjoy the beach in a new way! Help create a new landscape in the sand as you build your very own watershed. You will learn about where your water comes from and where your water goes. Cost free, meet in the Main Park Area at the Beach.

4th Fest!

Main Activity Area is next to Beaver Stadium, University Park

Central PA’s all volunteer 4th of July Celebration!  The Midway opens at 2:00 PM and celebrations continue throughout the afternoon and into the Star Spangled night! Be sure to stop by the Founder's Mall and get your child's free Kid ID, sponsored by the State College Borough Police.  Fireworks begin at approximately 9:15 PM.

Tremendous Tuesdays:  African Masks

In Africa masks can be traced back to well past Paleolithic times. These art objects were, and are still made of various materials, included are leather, metal, fabric and various types of wood. During celebrations, initiations, crop harvesting, war preparation, peace and trouble times, African masks are worn by a chosen or initiated dancer. What will your mask represent? Cost free, no registration required.

Join Michael's staff in learning about the culture of Italy. Celebrate Italy as you craft your own suncatchers and clay pizza. While supplies last.  Cost free, ages 3 and up. 

Mighty Math! Focus on Numbers: How much is 1000?

State College AAUW sponsors this fun-filled math workshop. Participants read a book, work on a math activity closely related to the story, and receive a give-away item to take home with them! Read it, Watch it Summer Movie Series: Inkheart

Celebrate One World, Many Stories with Schlow and the State Theatre. Pick up a themed bookmark (not required for admission) in the Children’s Department, read inspiring books, and then visit the historic State Theatre to watch great movies.  Cost free, donations of non-perishable food items collected ta the door to benefit various local charities.
